1055hrs on Tuesday 2nd June 2009 and DBR 1226 and DFT 7322 are waiting at Swanson for DCP 4663 to clear the single track before departing for Whangarei with a lengthy 126 Freight, complete with ETR 17, the Radio Test Van, at the rear. This van is a former FM class guards van (caboose), so looks right at home on the rear of the train!

Here's some video I shot of two Union Pacific freight trains passing through the Story Street grade crossing in downtown Boone, Iowa, on September 23rd, 2008. Both trains have an SD9043MAC diesel on the point. The engineers really lay on the horn - I learned later on the quiet zone in Boone went into effect only a few days after I was in town. What a shame.

On the same day that the Delaware River Railroad hosted their "Day Out With Thomas" festivities, they also ran their normal River Train (aka Mine Train) throughout the day, with Black River and Western diesel #752 leading the charge. I also caught a couple of Norfolk Southern freights when I was in the area, including one right by the New Jersey Transportation Heritage Center and their old station overlooking the NS line. On August 13, 2011, me and the group ventured to Stony Hill Road for the first half of the day, and the Woodbourne area later. Lot's of good catches were sighted on this day: 10:52 AM - First up, we see Q300-13 charge eastbound with an interesting leader of HLCX SD40-2 7181, with CSX ES40DC 5480 trailing. The 7181 has a beautiful K5LA, and is very clean.Q300 - Philadelphia, PA - Oak Island, NJ Manifest 11:19 AM - Next, Q439-12 moves westbound down track one, with CSX SD70AC 4738 and CSX C40-8 7639 pulling a large manifest. Q439 - Selkirk, NY - Hamlet, NC Manifest 1:01 PM - Q190-13 flies eastbound on track two with CSX ES40DC 5394 and CSX AC60CW 621, while SEPTA Train 3437 heads west with Silverliner IV's 448 and 447. Q190 - Philadelphia, PA - South Kearney, NJ Intermodal 3437 - West Trenton, NJ - PHL Local 3:49 PM - Q418-13 heads eastbound by Stony Hill, with an interesting matched pair of SD70AC's, with 4547 leading 4546, these two were seen on Q703-13 the day before at CP Nesh. 600th VIDEO!!!! This is a way of celebrating that I never expected when I woke up this morning (I was planning on just doing a retake of the Seaberg on Cliff St. downtown, that's as high as my hopes were). I never thought ANYONE would find something like this, but, here it is. This is a 100% COMPLETELY ORIGINAL OTIS freighter probably from before the 50s. It has the DEAD-MAN'S CONTROL CRANK, which I finally figured out how to use (PULL on the crank towards you, then turn left for up, right for down). It has bi-parting doors which look Peelle and have no windows on the street level and basement, but they might be another brand or even OTIS is they are that new. The other floors have center-opening doors that open outward. This was somewhat hard sneaking on to, but this garage didn't have much staff. One employee got in the other elevator with a car and took it upstairs (this garage has no ramps, the reason these elevators are here is for transporting cars). The other employee was in the office, so I jumped in this one and took it for a spin. The other one no longer opens to the street and has a replaced crank, which appeared to be GAL, so I was pretty happy he left me with this one. Getting out was very easy, because this opens right out onto the street. Don't worry, an employee got in and brought it upstairs right after. I didn't close the door because it would be impossible to call with the elevator having manual controls, and there is no way of unlocking the door from <b>...</b>

Such kind of train meet shot is so exciting. I love taking this kind of shots but I hate the EMU blocked me all the times and make me even cannot see what locomotive is heading the freight...... This time EMU E80 with skirts stopped at the station for nearly 1 minutes. It still haven't close the doors when the non-stopping train PA is playing at the opposite side plaform. Also included are a local with a conrail working hard and an intermodal not usually seen. Hotshot intermodal train 21M is first, with a trio of dash 9s roaring along pulling a monster 2-mile train that includes both domestic and ocean-going containers and trailers. NS 21M Intermodal Croxton, NJ-Chicago/63rd St, IL NS C40-9W 9608 NS C40-9W 9209 NS C40-9W 9858 After 21M rolls up the line, train 24Z heads east. Formerly 20G, this train mainly runs at night. First train is a westbound freight headed up by electric locomotive EG class 3111. Second train is inbound to the Odense yard behind diesel MZ class 1452. Both locomotives are former DSB, now owned by Railion presumably.

I saw many BNSF trains on this busy section of mainline that goes East from Vancouver to Camas and so on. The first series of trains came every 15 minutes, then everything stopped after the last one for an MOW high rail truck traveling many miles down the mainline. To kill a little extra time while waiting between trains, I had a look around the public fish hatchery across the street. The adult fish are really big because they get fed a lot by visitors, and have big appetites.
