Jelita adalah seorang gadis yang cantik, ceria, bersemangat, berani, berjiwa sosial tinggi, penolong, dan rela melakukan apa saja untuk membela sahabat-sahabatnya. Satu hal yang paling dibenci Jelita adalah orang kaya, karena sejak kecil Ibunya, Rima, selalu mengajarkan pada Jelita bahwa orang kaya itu sombong dan selalu mementingkan dirinya sendiri, dan hanya akan membuat gadis miskin menderita. Sebenarnya Rima bukan ibu kandung Jelita. Ibu kandung Jelita adalah Laras, sahabat Rima. Sebenarnya Laras adalah seorang wanita yang baik hati, tapi dia lalu tertipu oleh seorang pria kaya yang menikahinya cuma untuk mempermainkannya. Bahkan hubungannya dengan pria itu telah menyebabkan kesalahpahaman, yang menyebabkan Laras terpaksa mendekam di penjara selama belasan tahun. Laras berada di tempat yang salah pada waktu yang salah, sehingga menyebabkan dia menjadi tertuduh atas terbunuhnya suami Kartika, Rizal. Kartika yang mengira Laras adalah pembunuh suaminya sangat mendendam pada Laras. Dia bersumpah tidak akan pernah memaafkan laras dan membiarkan laras hidup tenang. Bahkan dia tak henti-hentinya mendoktrin putra tunggalnya, Bayu, agar membenci pembunuh Papanya dan seluruh keluarganya, bahwa dia tidak boleh berhubungan dengan mereka, apapun yang terjadi. Beberapa bulan setelah dia mendekam di penjara, Laras baru tahu bahwa dia hamil. Tak ingin bayinya dibesarkan dalam lingkungan penjara, Laras pun memberikan bayinya pada Rima. But Rima is not her real mother. Laras who is Jelitas mother is in jail. She has requested Rima her best friend to take care of Jelita after she was mistakenly accused of killing Rizal, Kartikas husband. Kartika vowed never to forgive Laras and even instigated her son, Bayu to hate the killer of his father. Unfortunately, Jelita meets Bayu and they gradually like each other not knowing about the past history of their parents. Later, Rima has a cancer and decided to open up her secret to her husband Rano. But she died before she could complete her story. Thus Rano could only hear about one of their daughter. He assumed one of their daughter is not his and becomes suspicious of all his daughters. What is actually the secret that Rima tries to tell Rano? How will Bayu reacts if he finds out that Jelita is the daughter of the killer that killed his father? Will Bayu continue his relationship?
