The M26 also saw service in the Korean War. When the war began in June 1950, the four American infantry divisions on occupation duty in Japan had no medium tanks at all, having only one active tank company equipped with M24 Chaffee light tanks each. When these divisions were sent to Korea at the end of June 1950, they soon found that the 75mm gun on the M24 could not penetrate the armor of North Korean T-34 tanks, which had no difficulty penetrating the M24's thin armor. In a Tokyo ordnance depot, three M26 Pershing tanks were found in poor condition; they were hastily rebuilt, but they had no fanbelts for their engines, so a substitute was used. These three M26s were formed into a provisional tank platoon commanded by Lieutenant Samuel Fowler and sent to Korea in mid-July; used to defend the town of Chinju, the tanks soon overheated when the substitute fan belts stretched and the cooling fans stopped working, and the only three American medium tanks in Korea were lost.[6] More medium tanks began arriving in Korea at the end of July 1950. Although no armored divisions were sent because the initial response from battlefield commanders was "Korea isn't good tank country", six Army infantry divisions and one Marine division were deployed. Each Army infantry division should have had one divisional tank battalion of 69 tanks, and each Army infantry regiment should have had a company of 22 tanks;[7] the Marine division had a tank battalion of 70 gun tanks and nine combination <b>...</b>

Getting pretty lucky in my M26 Pershing should be the title of this movie. I took out my M26 Pershing and ended up on Mines, took the hill with little to no issues and proceeded to do some rather silly things and managed to stay alive for the full match. The M26 Pershing is very mobile medium tank which can relocate very quickly, spot well and has the gun to poke holes in heavy tanks, mainly from the sides and rear. I put the gun to some good effect here, penetrating IS-3's and Lowe's from the sides as well as lighting up targets for our artillery to rain down on. The armour on the Pershing is nothing exciting and you usually don't bounce much. I count myself extremely lucky that I bounced the IS-3 and the Lowe shots on my turret, even if the angles were in my favour. Hope you enjoy this video. Something that isnt MW3 today! Just some fun with the M26. Running AEK-971 + M26 is almost the perfect setup for me, as its covers mid range and close quarters. Just need a rocket launcher and it would be perfect, but I'll use this loadout on Bazaar and Canals. Only downside is when you run into someone in the 20ft+ range. I have alot of clips but I just wanted the length the match the music. Its a lot of fun playing this way, although getting a score of 20-10 one round usually means 10-20 the next round!

For most of the Second World War, the Americans and Western Allies largely depended on the M4 Sherman tank series as the primary battle tank. In many areas the tank was quite good and was adequate for it's job when it was first deployed for combat. However, due to experiences in the Eastern Front, the Germans developed and fielded heavier tanks such as the Panther and Tiger, and many within the high command of the American army didn't expect their troops face them in significant numbers. However during the invasion of France Allied troops ran into the Panther tank much more frequently than expected. Also the older generation of German armor such as the Panzer IV had significant upgrades to their armaments and a new nasty array of anti-tank weaponry awaited the Allied tanks. Many Allied tankers soon found themselves out-armored and out-gunned. In response to this the M26 Pershing was developed in order to give Americans a tank that could stand up against tanks such as the Tigers and Panthers. Unfortunately, due to misguided management and faulty armored combat doctrine, development stalled and the M26 saw very little action near the ending stages of the war. However, many would see combat during the Korean war and greatly contributed to pushing back the North Korean Army and containing the Communist forces.
