QE2 in Port Rashid DUBAI. The lighting is on at night and there is signes of smoke from the funnel. The port is secure from the road with security checking ID and boarding passes to cruise ships. If your lucky to be there on a cruise you can walk around the port road to see it or cut through where the taxi driver hang out in a building. The area is not fenced off so you can walk up to the QE2. At the gang way a sign says UNAUTHORIZED VISITORS ARE NOT ALLOWED ON THE QUEEN ELIZABETH 2 AT ANY TIME as I advanced filmimg the security guard shouted something from inside so I politly walked passed. The QE2 has now been there since NOV 2008. any more info and I will ad it. Happy viewing and be the first onboard filming without getting into trouble......

Four years ago today, I boarded QE2 for her final Winter Crossing, a very special crossing not only for this reason, but because we would be doing this in tandem with the new Queen Victoria, which would be making this crossing for the first time.

Finance What the Fed's $600 Billion Plan Really Means The Federal Reserve Wednesday announced its latest effort to spur economic growth: a plan to purchase up to $600 billion of government bonds through June 2011. Why is the Federal Reserve buying bonds? It wants to lower interest rates, in the hopes that doing so will loosen the supply of credit and spur more economic activity. The central bank's main tool for reducing rates is to slash the short-term overnight lending that banks charge to one another, the so-called Federal Funds rate. Bring short-term rates down, and long-term rates tend to follow. In normal times, that's as far as the Fed usually goes. In the past three years, the Fed has reduced the Fed Funds target rate 10 times, from 5.25 percent to between zero and .25 percent. It's been at that extremely low level since the fall of 2008. Once the Fed Funds rate can't get any lower, what else can the Fed do? It can buy assets, or engage in what's known as quantitative easing (QE). Adjusting the Fed Funds directly influences short-term rates. The Fed can also influence long-term rates by purchasing (or selling) long-term debt in the open market. When lots of people -- or one big buyer -- buy bonds at the same time, it drives prices up and interest rates down. As the nation's central bank, the Fed can create money and simply announce that it will buy large quantities of bonds. Hasn't it done something like that already? Yes <b>...</b>

What a time for your camera's sound to stop working! We have, however, some unique film of QE2 leaving NY in 2008 for the last time and sailing in tandem with Queen Mary 2. As she leaves, the QE2, is haunted by her past, as the sound of her old horns, from her early days, blare out across the Hudson River. Having left NY the horn is the familiar sound, we remember from her final days. We had the best view of QE2 sailing mid Atlantic. Everyday she changed from port to starboard giving excellent views of both side of the ship. On the last day QE2 proudly flew her Paying off Pennant.
