This is the Edmund von Borck Konzert für Alt-Saxophon und Orchester: I. Lento-Allegro vivo. The piece was written in 1932 for legendary saxophonist Sigurd Raschèr. This performance is from the Sigurd Raschèr Centennial Celebration held at SUNY Fredonia. In a whole weekend of concerts featuring works written for Raschèr, this specific concert featured four concertos performed by four different saxophonists. Was unsere Delegation aus Europa mit eigenen Augen gesehen hat, gehört zu den absoluten Geheimnissen der Branche: Perfektion, Hightech und meisterhafte Handarbeit in der Fertigung von Holzblasinstrumenten. Im Yamaha Produktfilm sehen Sie die Produktion der Saxophone in der Toyoota-Fabrik in der Nähe von Hammamatsu, dem Stammsitz der Firma Yamaha. In dieser Fabrik werden alle hochwertigen Instrumente aus dem Professional-Bereich entwickelt und hergestellt. Im Toyooka-Werk arbeiten ca. 2.200 Menschen - alle höchst motiviert und professionell. Im Film sieht man zB die Graveure, die bei den Saxophonen ab der YAS-62er-Serie jede Gravur per Hand ausführen. Eine sehr anstrengende Arbeit, die ein Höchstmaß an Konzentration erfordert. Rutscht die Hand bei der Gravur aus, ist der ganze Saxophonkorpus nicht mehr zu gebrauchen. Zu sehen sind auch Ausschnitte aus dem Bereich des Custom-Workshops. Was heißt das? Im Custom-Bereich werden alle handgebauten, hochwertigen Instrumente hergestellt. Hier arbeiten die Meister aus dem Instrumentenbreich. Diese Abteilung der Produktion arbeitet sehr eng mit den Yamaha-Ateliers in New York, Tokio, Frankfurt am Main und Wien zusammen.
