Southwest Flight 812 drops from 36000ft to 10700ft in 4 minutes....... This is my story of Southwest Airlines flight 812 that landed in Yuma AZ after a hole blew open at 36000ft. There were 118 passengers and 5 crew members on board. On April 1, 2011 the plane left Phoenix AZ in route to Sacramento CA at approximately 3:35 PM and landed in Yuma at 4:07 PM This is Strictly a reenactment of the events of that day. Thankfully there was only 1 minor injury to a crew member on the rapid decent. I give credit to the great pilots of Southwest Airlines and there piloting skills. Southwest Airlines Co. has signed a multiyear agreement to use an environmentally friendly engine-washing system in an effort to save on fuel and cut carbon emissions. The Dallas-based carrier is using the EcoPower system offered by East Hartford, Conn.-based flight technology firm Pratt & Whitney Global Service Partners. Terms of the deal weren't disclosed, but Pratt & Whitney said Southwest's annual fuel-cost savings could exceed $20 million. The airline also stands to cut 135 million pounds of carbon dioxide emissions annually as a result. The arrangement with Pratt & Whitney comes as Southwest, along with the rest of the airline industry, faces record-high fuel prices that have led many to trim capacity and levy fees on travelers. Southwest in the first quarter reported a 63 percent drop in profit to $34 million, partially driven by a 34 percent hike in fuel and oil costs compared with the same period of 2007. Southwest said it is performing regular washes at airports in Orlando, Fla., and Oakland, Calif., where Pratt & Whitney has established new service centers. The EcoPower equipment uses a closed-loop system with atomized water to wash aircraft engines, avoiding contaminant runoff, Pratt & Whitney said. Our creative minds here at Element X Creative (www.elementxcreative.com) were pretty stoked about The Association of Independent Commercial Producers (AICP) asking us to create this year's Sponsor Reel for the Southwest show. The creative carte blanche was daunting given such a small window of time to concept and produce a 5 minute piece. It was even more challenging considering our own expectations were set high, not only in terms of storytelling, but wanting to create something that had not been done in the history of the show. After hours and hours of brainstorming concepts, we found an idea involving trains and miniatures that the whole studio could rally behind. Every individual under our roof came together to write, storyboard, model, texture, shoot, rig, animate, composite, and edit the final product. Many late nights and take-out orders later, combined with a music and sound effects mix from Tequila Mockingbird, the end video was stunning to behold. So take a peek at our latest and greatest! We hope you have as much fun watching it as our hero Jack had while running around in the tiny world we created for him.

Texas Storm Chasers' David Reimer and Jenny Brown filmed multiple tornadoes from a cyclic supercell in extreme northern Oklahoma during the April 14, 2012 Tornado Outbreak that affected Oklahoma, Kansas, and Nebraska. This was one of the first tornadoes produced by the supercell that would go on to produce tornadoes in Southern Kansas and WIchita, Kansas. Be sure to check out the zoomed in shot as the tornado moved over the road with debris clearly visible! The woman at the centre of a 'too fat to fly' controversy has announced that she is suing Southwest Airlines, which refused to allow her on a flight because of her size. New Orleans resident Kenlie Tiggeman is taking on the airlines controversial 'Customers of Size' policy which requires passengers to buy a second seat if they can't fit between the 17-inch wide armrests. In her quest to seek an injunction against the Dallas-headquartered carrier, Ms Tiggeman alleges that Southwest ignored her 'constitutional rights' and demonstrates 'discriminatory actions towards obese customers'. While she is not seeking monetary damages from the airline, Ms Tiggeman has claimed that she wants to enact an industry wide standard for rules to be put in place clearly stating the official policy of all US air companies. 'We need to know what the rules are,' she said. 'We need to know if we need one seat or two, because this eyeballing happening at the gate is incredibly discriminatory, and it's so unnecessary.' Pacific Southwest Airlines' first accident involving fatalities, the death toll of 144 makes it the deadliest aircraft disaster in California history. It was also the deadliest plane crash in the history of the United States until American Airlines Flight 191 went down eight months later. The Boeing and Cessna crashed into North Park, a San Diego neighborhood, killing all 135 on board, the two men aboard the Cessna, and seven people on the ground, including two children. Nine others on the ground were injured and 22 homes were destroyed or damaged. The midair collision contributed to San Diego's Lindbergh Field airport being ranked 10th among the world's Most Extreme Airports in a two-hour documentary of the same name released in July 2010, which aired in the US on the History Channel. The PSA 182 accident caused the revision of air traffic rules applicable to the busiest airports across the US, with the intention of improving separation of aircraft operating in the vicinity of large airports.
