This was a submission to the 2007 MTV Movie Awards contest. Created by me and Russell Roberts. We took the idea from the last scene in The Departed. Combined it with our own twist of Snakes on a Plane. Combined it with our own idea. Maybe it's stupid, but it was fun and it still makes me laugh. Hope you can find humour in it. I still haven't seen either one of those movies.

At last, my first short film, with real, and gifted actors and a skilled cinematographer. Everyone collaborated so well to make this work. The weakest link is my script of course, but I think it holds up decently. Thanks to everyone that donated their time and energy to make this film happen, and please forgive the sound problems - our producer has never gotten me the original sound files so that I can properly finish this film... When time allows I'm planning to reimport everything from scratch and see what I can do to make a version that sounds as good as possible. But this was the cut we deemed best at the time.

This is the portfolio version of the final cut of my short film, "Departure." It is the story of Jarrett, an aspiring screenwriter, as he overcomes his fear of leaving his family behind in order to move out west to take advantage of a scholarship granted to him by his choice university. This short follows him as he makes his escape from his eastern coast small town. Featured music by Death Cab for Cutie and The Decemberists, not me, so you can't say I ever claimed it as my own music.

"An Ordinary Day" is my first serious foray into filmmaking outside of the music video. It was created and shot as a response to my GCSE Art title, "Ordinary Extraordinary". I wanted to make something that wasn't a literal inturpretation of the theme, and was instead something a whole lot more subtle. In the end I condensed the idea down to a sentence: I have set out to show an ordinary event (the morning routine of a worker in the city) in an extraordinary way. The film also serves as a trial for the short film Arrows and I will be making in the summer, Tethered. It's a radical departure from my work up to now, but I like that about it. The film was made before the director committed suicide last September 8, 2011 by hanging himself to a coconut tree in his hometown at Quezon Province Philippines.
