Profile: Phuture only released a handful of tracks (plus an album a full decade after their debut), but have remained a legendary act in the development of Chicago house for their stomping 1987 single "Acid Trax", the track that began and defined the acid house sound. The group was formed by DJ Pierre, synthesizer fan Spanky and Herb J in 1985 as a recording entity to produce records for Pierre to mix into his sets at several crucial Chicago clubs. After being turned on to the high-pitched squelch of the Roland TB-303 synthesizer (marketed as a bassline machine for solo guitarists), the trio emerged from the studio with a track they called "In Your Mind". Ron Hardy previewed the track at his legendary club the Music Box - where it became known as "Ron Hardy's Acid Track" - and Phuture re-made the cut with production by Marshall Jefferson. Released on Trax Records in 1987, the single created a dividing point between the Chicago sound before and after it, with hundreds of "Acid Trax" imitations flooding the local market. After it caught on in Britain as well, the single soundtracked the wave of club madness which coalesced in the rave movement by the end of the decade. Despite recording one single with immense influence on dancefloors around the world, Phuture etched a rocky path during the rest of the 1980s. Herb J left after their follow-up single "We Are Phuture", and was replaced by an up-and-coming producer, Roy Davis, Jr. DJ Pierre left several singles later, and was <b>...</b>

I'm no historian and for sure don't claim to know exactly how House started. All I know from looking around and reading is that this record was the first documented Chicago House track ever put out on vinyl. Enjoy. **This record represents what the original, raw unmixed, untouched no special effects House sound was. Chicago only had a handful of dj's in the late 70's early 80's that can truly mix as Kenny Jason is a perfect example. One day a dj wanted to create his own beats so he can play them in his set. I believe that guy was Jesse Saunders. I really believe that the mixup is that the term House was reflecting the music that was played by Frankie Knuckles at the "Warehouse". That music was more soulful stuff like Loleatta Holloway's Love Sensation. The music that Dj's were creating in Chicago was very simplistic and hypnotic. Drum machine, Casio/Roland keyboard, mic and maybe add a sampler. That was it. Maybe it shouldn't have been labeled as House. More accurately it should be reffered to as "Chicago House".

I'm a huge Nintendo fan and am extremely happy to be participating in NinBuzz along with some very talented directors ;) My area of speciality on NinBuzz is Mario Kart Wii, and I've been playing this game since its launch day, and that's not all I've done with it... For this first video, I decided to lead off with something very interesting and relatively new to Mario Kart Wii: Competing on some custom built tracks! If you've never seen these before and you like playing Mario Kart Wii, you're in for a nice treat. This video demonstrates 3 of these tracks: Kartwood Creek, Mushroom Peaks and Incendia Castle. Kartwood Creek is made by Jughead870 (aka Rich Petty) on YouTube, and the latter two are made by me and my brother, Chadderz, who is commentating along with me. Chadderz is also the designer of the SZS Modifier, which is the application used to make these tracks. For those not interested in these tracks but still wanting to see Mario Kart Wii, don't worry, I plan to submit plenty of regular racing/battling videos to NinBuzz as well. I sincerely hope that everyone enjoys them all! After our Taylor Swift Coldplay mash-up, lots of people wanted more song combos. This led us to the creation of a cool hip hop mash-up, but again we could not get permission. Instead of scrapping the great ideas, we used them to create an original tune. You will hear influences and inspiration from other artists. Try and guess them. On the recording, Steven Sharp Nelson laid down over 100 tracks including cello textures never known possible. Every single sound on the video was made using only the instruments shown: piano, cello, mouth percussion and kick drum. We utilized some cool effects on lots of stuff...for example the U2-style delay on Steve's pizzicato at the beginning. The extra string on the electric cellos (the black cello has an extra high string and the white cello has an extra low string) allowed us to cover the full range of the orchestra. The deep bass drum sound is a bump on the body of the cello with a little help from some effects. The shaker sound was created by Steve rubbing rosin on his bow. The record scratch is Steve scratching a quarter on the strings <b>...</b>
