BOXCAR WILLIE *WABASH CANNONBALL*

FICTIONAL STORY OF THE TRAIN CALLED WABASH CANNONBALL. LYRICS; From the great Atlantic Ocean To the wide Pacific shore, From the queen of the flowing mountains, To the South belt by the shore, She's mighty tall and handsome, And known quite well by all, She's the combination called The Wabash Cannonball, She pulled into Birmingham, One cold December day, As she rolled into the station, You could hear the people say, There's a girl from Tennessee, She's long and she's tall, She just came down to Birmingham, On The Wabash Cannonball Our Eastern states are dandies, So the Western people say, From New York to St. Louie and Chicago by the way, From the hills of Minnesota, Where the rippling waters fall, No chances can be taken on The Wabash Cannonball, In the Boxcar is a Wiseman, His Cash is running low, I think his name was Carter, Many years ago, Acuff that's torn and tattered, Destined soon to fall, His guitar tuned to the whistle, Of The Wabash Cannonball, Listen to the jingle the rumble and the roar, As she rolls along the woodland, Through the hills and by the shore, Hear the mighty rush of the engine, Hear the lonesome hoboes squall (call), Travellin' through the Southland (Jungle), On The Wabash Cannonball, Now here's to Daddy Claxton, May his name forever stand, And always be remembered in, The courts throughout this land, His earthly race is over and the curtain 'round him falls, They'll carry him on to Glory, On The Wabash Cannonball

Joe Ely ~ Boxcars

Joe Ely and band performing Butch Hancock's "Boxcars" on the steps of the Texas State Capitol as a featured presentation of the Texas Book Festival. He shared a set with Johnny Bush (videos coming soon) and Lavelle White (who i missed). Joe also spoke at the festival about his new book "Bonfire of Roadmaps". One of the most enduring memories i have of my own days on the road is sitting with Lyle watching Joe perform at the Kerrville Folk Festival as a huge thunderstorm rolled in from behind the stage. Joe just kept on wailing, seeming to gain power as the lightning crashed all around us. Impossible to describe the electricity of the moment (every pun intended), the whole scenario is seared in my being. Joe will always be that most charismatic of performers, but that night for me makes him legendary. Check out his site at www.ely.com and the Texas Book Festival here: www.texasbookfestival.org and someone has posted some excellent photos of the event here: www.flickr.com The Band Joe Ely ~ Vocals/Acoustic Guitar Joel Guzman ~ Accordion David Holt ~ Lead Guitar Jimmy Pettit ~ Bass Davis McLarty ~ Drums Filmed and edited by tony gallucci, milk river film Holly Riedel, executive producer

Box Car Racer - Watch The World

Lyrics I watched the smoke, as it grew darker and blew up through the roof I watched the fed, saw them panic, as the fire grew I saw Virginia, get rid of Langley, and its secrets too I held your hand, and sat there knowing, that we'd make it through I saw this man disposed of hunger and soap operas too I saw this field, that grew perfection, full of things you do I saw this box, get rid of heartache and cure cancer too When I awoke I sat there hoping, this is what we'll do If we can, we will leave a letter and this song for you And we'll write once a day and float it through the sea to you We'll regret all those things we thought of but didn't ever do If we can we will leave a letter and this song for you And we'll write once a day and float it through the sea to you We'll regret all those things we thought of but didn't ever do When the sky seems to clear who will then be left, but a few, me and you

Box Car Racer - Letters to God

This was posted years back, and for some reason my account was deleted, yadda yadda yadda. Just recently downloaded Real Player, which allowed me to re-add this to YouTube. This was a high school project I, alongside my buddy Ian did for competition within the school, and state of Florida. We received second in school, and were not able to enter the competition because we refused to censor the song. (We budged on the visual of the word, and that was enough.) So anyway, enjoy. Oh, and yes, Ian knows how to play guitar, proper. The syncing is a bit off, not sure if that's YouTube or what. I be the bass player in the band scene. I know, we don't have a drummer. Yes, the girl is pretty. Yes, the kid flipping over the rail is funny. and, I can't think of any other obvious statements to make, so I'll shut up and allow you cynical bastards to do your thing, and tare me down over the internet now. =D

Boxcar Willie Show 1986

This video I had taken in 1986 using a Panasonic PK-958 video camera and a portable VCR, it was no fun lugging that big heavy stuff around. I had recorded this at the Indian Ranch in Webster, Mass. back in the good ol' days when a person was able to record shows there. Back when country music was still COUNTRY.
