This video is not meant to disparage the works of other composers. There are lots of beautiful pieces that aren't included here, this is just a selection, it's almost impossible to include them all in one video, considering the maximum length and the editing work it involves. Anyway, I hope you like it!

Richard Wagner - The ride of the Valkyries from "Die Walküre"

Richard Wagner The ride of the Valkyries, from Die Walküre Richard Wagner is considered the master of German opera, and one of the most progressive composers in history. The philosophical issues that Wagner considered vital to society were the tension between good and evil, between the physical and spiritual, and between selfishness and redemptive love. Wagner is also one to the most controversial composers of our time, his music was breathtaking, his politics left many cold. Der Ring des Nibelungen, (The Ring of the Nibelung), is a cycle of four epic music dramas by the German composer Richard Wagner.

Hans Zimmer in his studio - Part 1

In many ways, the best thing about Sherlock Holmes is its score (released January 12), featuring exotic Hungarian and gypsy instruments. Its one of about a hundred movie scores delivered by prolific German composer Hans Zimmer, who has earned six Oscar nominations; he won for The Lion King in 1994. Articulate and charming, Zimmer invited me to his lair in Santa Monica, a sprawling complex housing other composers as well as rooms crammed with synthesizers, computers and towers of servers. Hes currently working on Inception for Chris Nolan, for whom he composed the score for The Dark Knight. He gave me a tour, showed me where and how he composes and explained his working process on the scores for Sherlock Holmes, Its Complicated, Gladiator, and The Dark Knight. He even plays a bit. blogs.indiewire.com

Great Classical Music Composers, part 1

First of a 14-part series featuring excerpts from music by the greatest composers of classical music. The original keonepax series featured 7 parts and 4 "encores." Unfortunately, I lost the keonepax channel, but I'm taking the opportunity to re-do the entire series and re-ordering the composers by year of birth and adding many more choice selections. I hope you enjoy the new series.

Live in Paris Montage Roger Hodgson singer, songwriter, composer's Greatest Hits

Roger Hodgson formerly of Supertramp has been recognized as one of the most gifted composers, songwriters and lyricists of our time. The songs Roger Hodgson sings that are often referred to as Supertramp songs are songs that Roger wrote and composed alone - that is how he creates music. When he was with Supertramp, he would make a demo of the song and bring it to the band for them to learn their parts. So Supertramp as a band never wrote and composed together, there were only 2 songwriters for the band. The songs Roger sings lead vocals on are the ones he composed the music and lyrics for, and the songs Rick sings lead vocals on are the ones that he wrote. Roger Hodgson is currently on tour for his latest tour schedule visit www.rogerhodgson.com Shows are selling out!
