Two Cranbrook BC men were killed after a Canadian Pacific Railway train derailed, plunged off a 38-meter cliff and burst into flames into Kootenay Lake. Both men died when the 49-car freight train crashed into a three-meter-high rock slide, about 40 kilometres east of Nelson British Columbia. Produced by Teamwork Media Television (TMTV). Let's give CP Rail the spotlight for a bit. Back in the mid-nineties, CP was still relying on its massive fleet of SD40-2s, along with a ragtag fleet of MLW units that were being yanked in and out of the retirement yard by the hour. As well, rent-a-wrecks of every colour were doing their bit too.

Many have been asking for this, so here you go! I have finally returned to "Railfanning in HO". Here are some shots of a small CP Rail freight train, depicting a train from around 1996. The C424 (lead unit) was retired by CP in 1998, while the SD40M-2 (2nd) was acquired by CP in 1995. Where do I start with this one.....?This unit is an Athearn bluebox kit from 18 years ago.Back then I added a scale foot length to the nose,added Pacific Fast Mail roof (see through) vents,and handrail stanchions,handformed the handrails,and grabirons. I aslo added a speedometer cable to the sideframe,and air line tubing,as well.A Details West pilot,blower housing,and Kadee#58 "scale" couplers round it all off.Last year I added an engineer and a fireman to the cab,and a spare coupler knuckle,and re-railer.This year,I added a Soundtraxx Tsunami TSU- 1000 sound decoder,a Soundtraxx speaker,with a homemade baffle, and Miniatronics lighting (1.4v).Lastly the stock Athearn motor was rebuilt with a "skewed" armature.I am quite happy with this one!!!

June 18, 2007: Canadian Pacific train 164 (NS 30J), a rare train to see in daylight (11 AM, runs around 5 AM) with units CP AC4400CW 9578 and CP AC4400CW 9806. This train is half intermodal and half manifest. What makes this video even rarer is it is shot along the Turkey Path, Gibraltar, PA. For those of you who don't know, this is not the main, it is a quarry diversion. Detours here are rare if any, but there was track work on the main tracks so I got super lucky, this is something you may only see once folks! Hope you enjoy, different units from what you see in my videos and I love the horn. This is video 5 in the series, another video along the Turkey Path is next with 14G, but a different location.

This is a short clip of my HO scale model railway set in British Columbia. The video is meant as a work-in-progress report for friends but for anyone new looking in - welcome - and to bring you up to speed, the model is only 12 foot by 12 foot, mainly running on shelves 12 inches deep with the exception of the main yard which is 24 inches deep. I model a ficticious sub somewhere south of Hope, BC, loosely in the 1980's period. The line is predominently CP Rail with an occasional invasion by CN and BCR. 4-part way-bills are used. The room has to work as a guest bedroom and the sofa therefore expands into the middle of the room to provide a double bed. Eventually, there will be a mini wardrobe underneath the main yard as well. You can see the first small yard (Thorpe) is almost finished but the main marshalling yard (Western) is still largely a "plywood pacific". The Forest section is complete (467 trees, two moose and a bear) and the lower town (Portal) up to the freeway overpass is again under construction. (For those looking in for the first time, the track then continues underneath the upper yards of Thorpe and Western to hidden storage areas where there is a reversing loop controlled from the main panel). The lighting is usually strip lighting with daylight-toned bulbs. However, the evening and night effects are coloured spotlights (keeping the direction true so the sun sets only in one direction) and you can see the I have made a start on the building lights. back in August, Derf and I decided to find the East portal of the Mt macDonald tunnel seeing how we were in the area anyway, was only about 5min before we heard the west bound approaching, hard hear on here, but when the locomotives entered the tunnel you can hear them growling real good!! Enjoy
