Researchers at Stanford University have found a new method of water purification that is both faster and cheaper than existing methods. The department of Materials Science and Engineering created a filter with plain cotton cloth coated with tiny particles called nanomaterials. The cloth is then capable of decontaminating bacteria. Now they're keen to turn the so called "nano-scale bug zapper" into a product that could be commercially viable and especially useful for those in developing countries with restricted access to sources of clean water.... www.euronews.net
America's Got Talent Review - Season 6, Episode 25, August 25th, 2011. (8/25/11) Silhouettes was the featured performance tonight, but Fatally Unique was also great. (America's Got Talent's second SEMI FINAL episode this season) Kinetic King - Starting off the show, KK's new performance is full of pieces flying everywhere, making for a more exciting show for him. Fatally Unique - Saying this is the year of the dance on America's Got Talent is a fact backed up by these guys. Infusing a psychotic theme into their work tonight worked very well for them. Landon Swank - Using an illusion similar to Frank Miles a few weeks back, Landon does not disappoint with fantastic presentation to his explosive box act. Gymkana - After repetitively jumping around with gym stunts, the group jumps through a flaming hoop before somebody crashes into it, stopping the act. Summerwind Skippers - The jump rope team performs to "Till The World Ends" by Britney Spears and does a great job, despite messing up twice. Snap Boogie - Some may argue that he didn't stay true to himself, which may be partially true. I still really enjoyed his dancing, though. Anna Graceman - Performing Motley Crue's tune, "Home Sweet Home", Anna definitely attracted some positive attention tonight. Steven Retchless - Despite executing some impressive pole moves, I found this to be very boring. Recorded on February 1st, 2010, in the same studio as the original 25 years earlier (Henson Recording Studios, formerly A&M Recording Studios) "We Are The World 25 For Haiti", in which Jones and Richie serve as executive producers and producers, was created in collaboration with executive producers Wyclef Jean, Randy Phillips and Peter Tortorici; producers Humberto Gattica and RedOne; and co-producers Rickey Minor, Mervyn Warren and Patti Austin to benefit the Haitian earthquake relief efforts and the rebuilding of Haiti. Academy Award-winning writer-director Paul Haggis (Crash, Million Dollar Baby), whose own personal efforts as well as those of Artists for Peace and Justice have already saved countless lives in Haiti, filmed the private recording session to create the accompanying video and behind-the-scenes production, and serves as Film Director and as an Executive Producer with Jones, Richie, Jean, Phillips and Tortorici. The 25th Anniversary recording features over 80 artists and performers. The recording of We Are The World 25 For Haiti embodied the same enthusiasm, sense of purpose and generosity as the original recording 25 years ago. The Celtic Heart Knot is the woven realization of a design I saw etched into a friend's ring. After our Taylor Swift Coldplay mash-up, lots of people wanted more song combos. This led us to the creation of a cool hip hop mash-up, but again we could not get permission. Instead of scrapping the great ideas, we used them to create an original tune. You will hear influences and inspiration from other artists. Try and guess them. On the recording, Steven Sharp Nelson laid down over 100 tracks including cello textures never known possible. Every single sound on the video was made using only the instruments shown: piano, cello, mouth percussion and kick drum. We utilized some cool effects on lots of stuff...for example the U2-style delay on Steve's pizzicato at the beginning. The extra string on the electric cellos (the black cello has an extra high string and the white cello has an extra low string) allowed us to cover the full range of the orchestra. The deep bass drum sound is a bump on the body of the cello with a little help from some effects. The shaker sound was created by Steve rubbing rosin on his bow. The record scratch is Steve scratching a quarter on the strings <b>...</b>

Simple tutorial for an easy way to cut up your t-shirts. Reconstruct old, boring t-shirts by cutting strips into a "V" shape on the back of your t-shirt. Just learn the basic weave, it's so easy! Your own diy style shirt :) Step 1 Cut the neck off - Follow the original seam so your cut will be even. Cut 1in wider than the original neckline for a roundneck. Cut 1.5-2in wider than original neckline for a wide, boatneck or off the shoulder neckline. Step 2 Fold the back of the shirt in half - Match up the shoulder seams so it is even. Step 3 Decide the shape of the "V" that you want. The wider, or deeper the V, the sexier and more revealing the shirt. Use a rule to mark where you'll be cutting. Step 4 Cut thin strips - about a finger width all the way down. Careful not to cut too low or you'll have a hard time tying a knot in step 7. Step 5 Stretch out the fabric to roll edges. Take each strip that you cut and pull it out so it turns into a thin and even strip. Step 6 Weave - take the second strip and put it under and over the first strip. Still holding onto the second strip, take the third strip and place it under and over the second strip. Continue all the way to the bottom. Make sure you didn't miss any strips before doing the next step because you can still undo and redo the weave at this point. Step 7 Knot - when you're holding onto the last loop at the very bottom of the V, take scissors and cut the loop in half. Double knot both of them to the previous loop to hold <b>...</b>

By attempting to control the internet, Congress can't help but do anything but screw it up. They want to create a system whereby any website in America could be turned off at a moment's notice. And if they can do it, don't worry, they will. Websites will be so afraid of this new power that they will not wait to be censored, they will censor themselves, stifling the culture of creation that has become so powerful on the internet. Congress will never be able to keep up with the people who want to infringe on copyright, but they will be able to track down and stomp out casual users who want to cover songs, create mashups, GIFs, videos, let's plays, and commentaries. They'll do a great job of scaring legitimate users while missing the real violators, who have enough expertise and free time to get around whatever blocks the government puts in place.
