Fat Albert Classic Theme Song #1

The Fat Albert animated cartoon TV show's theme song from season 1 Fat Albert first appeared in Cosby's stand-up comedy routine "Buck Buck," as recorded on his 1967 album Revenge. The stories were based upon Cosby's tales about growing up in the inner city of West Philadelphia. In 1969, Cosby and veteran animator Ken Mundie brought Fat Albert to animation in a one-shot prime-time special entitled Hey, Hey, Hey, It's Fat Albert. The special, which aired on NBC, was a hybrid of live-action and animation. The music for the special (and later the series) was written and performed by jazz pianist/keyboardist Herbie Hancock in 1969 and was released on the Warner Bros. album Fat Albert Rotunda. The producers wanted NBC to bring Fat Albert to Saturday mornings, but they refused because the series was too educational. [1]. So, Bill Cosby and a new production company, Filmation Associates, took the property to CBS. The series, now titled Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids, premiered on September 9, 1972 on CBS for a 12-year run (however, it was not in continuous production). It also spent another season in first-run syndication in 1984-1985. Several prime-time holiday specials featuring the characters were also produced. Like most animated series at the time, Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids contained a laugh track.

Vinyl (MCS 6700) - Herbie Hancock - Wiggle-Waggle

Vinyl (MCS 6700) - Frank Zappa - Son of Mr. Green Genes Turntable: MCS 6700 Direct Drive Phono Cart: Denon DL-110 Preamp: Rega Fono Mini Stereo: Marantz 2235b Recorded at 24/96 (24-bit, 96kHz) on Audacity. Notes -- Here is the opening track to Herbie Hancock's 1969 LP, Fat Albert Rotunda. This was his first album for Warner Brothers, and his first album post-Miles Davis. The songs were originally used for Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids and then expanded for this album. The RnB and funky stylings would come into fruition in later years with The Headhunters, but this sound is very unique in Herbie's catalog. This LP is the green label WB pressing. "Green Labels" are always the best WB records to own. They are far superior to the "palm tree" pressings of the later 1970s. Always search for the best record LP pressings - the differences can be quite dramatic. The MCS 6700 turntable was JC Penny's top-line model of the late 1970s. It's a rebranded Technics SL-1900 with a larger frame, more stylish buttons, and the same excellent Technics sound. It's a terrific turntable. The phono cartridge is the always-excellent Denon DL-110, a high-output moving coil. The phono preamp is the Rega Fono Mini, a sterling champ that is sadly overlooked. And the stereo receiver is my venerable Marantz 2235b from 1977.

Mobb Deep - Shook Ones Pt II sample Herbie Hancock - Jessica

all credit goes to Bronco from the-breaks for discovering it the-breaks.com and Hawkeye from Soulstrut for editing the sample www.soulstrut.com Hawkeye's comments on soulstrut: Havoc only used one sample out of that piano, not two. As far as I understood it right, the guys at the-breaks.com said he used the beginning sounds and one part which begins 4 seconds after the start. I think he only used the part which starts after 4 seconds. If you listen closely to Shook Ones Pts.2, you will hear a crackle/static noise, always starting on the 1 of every bar. This noise sounds pitched too. He had a crackle/static on the 1 of the sample which was pitched too as he pichted the sample. The first bar of Shock Ones Pt.2 is pitched minus 14 semitones and the second is the same sample pitched minus 9 semitone. he VSOP Version is a live recording of "Jessica". If you compare both versions you will hear that Herbie Hancock flipped the chords on those versions. In 1975 he started the tune with the 5 notes which can be flipped into Shook Ones Pt.2. But in 1969 he played those 5 tones 4 seconds after the start of the tune. Now here is my problem with the VSOP sample and why I think Havoc sampled the "Fat Albert Rotunda" Jessica Version instead of the VSOP Version. VSOP was recorded live. As in many live recordings you hear the audience. Beacuse of Herbie Hancock starting the tune with those 5 tones used for Shook Ones Pt.2 on the live version, you still hear some fans screaming. Even after ...

Oh! Oh! Here He Comes

written by Herbie Hancock, arranged by Allen Rado, performed by the WSHS Jazz Combo (Blue Group) at Chantilly Invitational Jazz Festival, March 25, 2011. It's not always easy to find arrangements for a jazz combo with five guitars, so last summer, Allen arranged the song to fit the group, writing out the charts by hand. This is the result.
