So maybe it is not really Facebook parenting for musicians and bands. There is no angry dad that is going to put a bullet through some computer owned by a bratty independent band here. But the old concept of clean your room does apply here. Man, that was a hell of a video. I was surprised that dad has not been on any of the national morning shows yet or maybe he has and I just missed it. Still, lets get back to the point. When it comes to maintaining your existing fan base while working to build a new and larger one, as a music consultant and not a parent, I tell bands to clean their rooms or well, social media pages. Go in to your pages and tidy up now and then. For the stuff that is well in the past, delete it. For the stuff that is covered over and over, remove it and make space for an easy read that will allow a potential new fan to find out about you. At the same time, go back to older pictures and tag the places you played, tag the other people that are in them. Check to see if you added a good description to the photo and it if also has links to your music pages where people can download or purchase your music. Make it easy for a new visitor to find out about you and not have to scroll down to far to really get a sense of you. Go in now and then and clean up the pages a bit.
