Why hello Youtube, its been awhile hasn't it? Four years ago, on June 4th 2007, I created this Youtube account and subsequently entered the realm of competitive Pokémon. During that time, I knew next to nothing about competitive battling except hearing the words IVs and EVs tossed around when looking up RSE stuff on gamefaqs. Now onto the battle. As many you probably already know, Mtgxerxes is currently hosting a mixed-tier series using the format of 2 OUs, 2 UUs, and 2 NUs. Seeing as a host of other people, including a lot of big names decided to participate, I decided to dust off my DS fat and join the fun! Thank you Xerxes for hosting this series, I had a lot of fun. I'm certainly looking forward to what the teams look like from the other people you played.

The man. The myth. The legend. Only not an actual myth, he's very real. (I assure you... www.youtube.com see?) This was a match with the NU team he put together to attempt to show that NU Pokémon can compete--and yes, win against--even Standard teams. To be honest, I didn't know any of his stuff was NU...Tauros was always BL/low OU, Articuno and Entei had meh movepools and SR weakness but beastly stats, Gastrodon is nigh impossible to kill (without a Grass move) once it gets a couple Stockpiles in, Pinsir is just Heracross without Fighting STAB/SR Neutrality and a different (yet still good) ability, and Gardevoir is...a favorite among furries despite not having fur. Anyway, got some tribute being paid to this great great guy in addition to the battle. My dumb luck in team assembly wound up to pay off big time, and several key plays helped on the way to a rather unexpected outcome. I shouldn't need to say this, but go view all of his videos if you haven't already. He's the original, the best, and yes, he's back.

Anyway, this battle was truly epic. It came down to the last of our pokes, and it was very entertaining. This vid is 6 times speed, because I was having some uploading problems. The March Madness tournament (which actually extended in May as many predicted) was a MixTier (2-2-2) Tournament designed to be the last major YouTube tournament of 4th Gen. It was hosted on the TPX chatroom (xat.com/tpx) and used the player rankings for seeding. After only dabbling in a few tournaments, I made it in at the 26 seed of 32. A win against 7th ranked GoddessMaria sends me on a collision course with 10th ranked (lolwhat) MTGXerxes. Neither of us have much experience with Mix Tier, though the way I play sometimes resembles a freeform mixtier. Will I be able to muster anything up to knock the big man into the loser's bracket, or will 6 guys thrown together only buy me one win? As was the case last time, some special intro things going on with this video. (Including 170 unique frames I animated by hand...THAT was tedious.) Alriiiight, having never done a Thanksgiving battle, I thought it would be fun to do one this year. We chose our respective Pokémon from a pool of about 15 NU/NFE birds. Why not OU you ask? A change of pace is always a nice thing from the hustle and bustle of the OU metagame. The battle for the most part was quite entertaining barring the fact our teams were similar Pokemon-wise, but not moveset-wise lol. Those ~15: Fearow, Pidgeot Farfetched, Pelipper, Prinplup Chatot Noctowl, Tailow Murkrow Togetic Staravia Xatu, Swablu Doduo Delibird Sadly, due to hax, as described by the annotations, my team's full potential was unable to be exploited. I think this is the first time I've used current NUs before haha. I don't think allowing Stealth Rock was the smartest idea. Oh well, hell of a fun and quite funny battle nonetheless. About that Crit: Without the Crit: 28-34%, or 91-107 HP wise. Simple math: 25% (brings me down to 236 HP) from Stealth Rock minus34% (107), minus 34% (107) again for being slower equals surviving with at LEAST 22 HP assuming maximum damage. Then, I would have Roosted. Anyways, thanks for the match dude, its always a pleasure to face you. Maybe I'll do more holiday-themed matches in the future. Can I use only my knowledge of the metagame to win, or will my lack of any battle experience come back to bite me in the ass? Watch and see! So I'm back from I believe a month of absence to bring you a battle against one of the more famous players on YouTube: the man who popularized roulette battles himself, MTG Xerxes. Definitely not my best performance and not a good way to start my return from hiatus, but I'll learn from my mistakes. Jirachi is such a beast; it had potential to narrow the gap if it got a Wish off. I'll be sad to see its usage drop if Salamence is voted Uber. Speaking of Salamence, I was disappointed to see it knocked out so early in the game along with Tyrannitar, but what can I do? I had no real answer to Roserade, considering I was guessing what move it will make in order to not get slaughtered. Despite the outcome, I had fun in this battle.
