I introduced him to my loved one, and while they were waltzing my friend stole my sweet-heart from me. I remember the night and the Tennessee waltz. Now I know just how much I have lost. Yes I lost my little darlin' the night they were playing the beautiful Tennessee waltz. I was waltzing with my darlin' to the Tennesse waltz when an old friend I happened to see. Musician Patti Smith is interviewed by video blogger Zadi Diaz (www.epicfu.com) as part of PBS's coverage of the 2009 Television Critics Association Press Tour (Aug 1-2, 2009). Smith discuss the upcoming POV documentary "Patti Smith: Dream of Life," coming to PBS December, 2009. For more: www.pbs.org/pov/pov2009/pattismith Shot over 11 years by acclaimed fashion photographer Steven Sebring, Patti Smith: Dream of Life is a remarkable plunge into the life, art, memories and philosophical reflections of the legendary rocker, poet and artist. Sometimes dubbed the godmother of punk — a designation justified by clips of her early rage-fueled performances — Smith was much more than that when she broke through with her 1975 debut album, Horses. A poet and visual artist as well as a rocker, she befriended and collaborated with some of the brightest lights of the American counterculture, an often testosterone-driven scene to which she brought a swagger and fierceness all her own. Debuts: Wednesday, December 30, 2009, 9 pm ET on PBS
Patti Smith - April Fool

Come be my April Fool Come you're the only one Come on your rusted bike Come we'll break all the rules We'll ride like writers ride Neither rich nor broke We'll race through alleyways In our tattered cloaks so Come be my April Fool Come we'll break all the rules We'll burn all of our poems Add to God's debris We'll pray to all of our saints Icons of mystery We'll tramp through the mire When our souls feel dead With laughter we'll inspire Then back to life again Come you're the only one Come be my April Fool Come come Be my April Fool We'll break all the rules

Patti Smith - People Have the Power

People Have the Power by Patti Smith I was dreaming in my dreaming of an aspect bright and fair and my sleeping it was broken but my dream it lingered near in the form of shining valleys where the pure air recognized and my senses newly opened I awakened to the cry that the people / have the power to redeem / the work of fools upon the meek / the graces shower it's decreed / the people rule The people have the power The people have the power The people have the power The people have the power Vengeful aspects became suspect and bending low as if to hear and the armies ceased advancing because the people had their ear and the shepherds and the soldiers lay beneath the stars exchanging visions and laying arms to waste / in the dust in the form of / shining valleys where the pure air / recognized and my senses / newly opened I awakened / to the cry Where there were deserts I saw fountains like cream the waters rise and we strolled there together with none to laugh or criticize and the leopard and the lamb lay together truly bound I was hoping in my hoping to recall what I had found I was dreaming in my dreaming god knows / a purer view as I surrender to my sleeping I commit my dream to you The power to dream / to rule to wrestle the world from fools it's decreed the people rule it's decreed the people rule LISTEN I believe everything we dream can come to pass through our union we can turn the world around we can turn the earth's revolution we have the power People have the ...

Patti Smith ~ Dancing Barefoot (HQ Audio).

A love song like no other ♥ Lyrics: she is benediction she is addicted to thee she is the root connection she is connecting with he here I go and I don't know why I fell so ceaselessly could it be he's taking over me... I'm dancing barefoot heading for a spin some strange music draws me in makes me come on like some heroine she is sublimation she is the essence of thee she is concentrating on he, who is chosen by she here I go and I don't know why I spin so ceaselessly, could it be he's taking over me... [chorus] she is re-creation she, intoxicated by thee she has the slow sensation that he is levitating with she ... here I go and I don't know why, I spin so ceaselessly, 'til I lose my sense of gravity... [chorus] (oh god I fell for you ...) the plot of our life sweats in the dark like a face the mystery of childbirth, of childhood itself grave visitations what is it that calls to us? why must we pray screaming? why must not death be redefined? we shut our eyes we stretch out our arms and whirl on a pane of glass an asphyxiation a fix on anything the line of life the limb of a tree the hands of he and the promise that s/he is blessed among women. (oh god I fell for you ...)

Patti Labelle - Stir It Up - 1985

One of my favorite Patti La Belle songs, it is so much fun listening to this classic Nu Wave R&B song that it brings backs memories of Parachute Pants, Polo Shirts, Kangaroo Shoes, Jordache Jeans , the Cosby Show and Black Girls wearing big hair, shoulder pads for jackets and swatch watches. Some of the best times of my life was going to see Beverly Hills Cop and being a Senior in High School during 1984-1985. Hot tub time machine anyone, I'll pour the Chernobyly so we can surf back to our youth just one mo time.
