The Mosin Minute - Episode 57: Slugging the Barrel of the 1926 Izhevsk Mosin Nagant M91/30
WARNING: Before attempting this, please read below. Having never done this before, this is my first attempt at slugging the barrel of one of my rifles...in this case, the 1926 Izzy M91/30 Ex-Dragoon that I've been using a lot of lately. So don't go too hard on me for not getting the "lands" of the grooves terminology correct and all that. And don't necessarily follow my recommendations on what bullets to start out with for reloading, because my asset for that may be wrong (using 0.311 instead of 0.308). This is a quick video of how to do this project cheaply (and effectively), borrowed from 7.62x54R(dot)net. This follows the images and write-up almost exactly, with a few variations. Basically you need to get a lead fishing line weight that's about 0.3 inch diameter. Then you tap it a little flatter, lube it up, then knock it down the barrel with a ¼ inch dowel rod. Take a pair of calipers that go down to about 1/1000 of an inch, then measure the size of the lead piece you extract from the chamber. Now, this sounds fairly easily, but you have to pay attention to where you measure on the lead weight...this is done at the high point in between the 4 grooves cut into your lead weight by the barrel groove lands. I mistakenly call these raised points on the rammed lead weigh "lands," but that's my mistake. However, while I found out that those points measured 0.312 to 0.3125 inch, I was incorrect in assuming that a standard Lee Enfield .303 bullet (which measures 0.311) would <b>...</b>

Century VZ2008 slugging the barrel
Century produced a limited run of this all American parts (minus the furniture) replica of the SA VZ58 czech battle rifle. In my quest to accurize this gun I slugged the bore to check the grove diameter and came up with a measurement of .308 for the grove diameter. The gun shoots factory 7.62x39 ammunition just fine, but what are the possibilties with .308 bullets in a neck down handloaded 7.62x39 casing? To be continued...

Incaviglia is the most recognized power hitter in Oklahoma State and NCAA baseball history. He had the most impressive offensive year in NCAA history as a junior in 1985 in which he set NCAA single-season records for home runs (48), RBIs (143), total bases (285) and slugging percentage (1.140). He set the NCAA career records for home runs (100) and slugging percentage (.915) and holds the Big Eight career records for RBIs (324) and total bases (635). He was named first-team All-America in 1984 and 1985 by the American Baseball Coaches Association, The Sporting News and Baseball America. Incaviglia was also named first-team All-Big Eight by the conference coaches in 1984 and 1985. He is one of only two players who were ever voted the Most Valuable Player of the Big Eight Tournament twice, earning the honor in 1984 and repeating in 1985. Incaviglia was one of only five position players since the draft began in 1965 to go directly from amateur baseball to the major leagues. On Jan. 14, 1999, Incaviglia was named college baseball's Player of the Century by Baseball America.
