Slovenian storm chaser Marko Korosec chased near the city of Genova, NW Italy on Nov 4th 2011. A major flash flooding event was predicted with strong shear and high energy still in place -- unusualy ingredients for early November. (Extreme Tornado Tours guide Olivier Staiger, aka Klipsi, also chased this event from his base in Switzerland.) The event transpired with an intense stationary convective line of supercell thunderstorms over the city of Genova, droping hundreds of litres of rain which resulted in major flooding over the city. Unfortunatelly at least 6 people were killed there. On the edge of this line of storms, at least two tornadoes were observed by Marko and others, as well as a lot of intense CG lightning strikes and several wall clouds with occasional funnel clouds. On May 22, 2011 an EF-5 Monster Tornado over a mile wide leveled portions of the Southwest side of Joplin, Missouri. Jeff and Kathryn Piotrowski knew that the atmosphere that day was going to be extremely volatile and Jeff mentioned many times in his forecast about storms near Joplin. No truer words were spoken as the day unfolded and a tornadic storm developed near Galena, Kansas which traveled on to Joplin and dropped a horrific wedge tornado. Jeff and Kathryn traveled through the city of Joplin not hearing sirens, Jeff yells at a policeman on Hwy 66 or 7th "To get the sirens going" and it wasn't soon enough. Already the tornado had grown in size massively and was intensifying...Jeff and Kathryn filmed it down 20th St. and afterwards turned on the first street they came to which was Iowa Ava. Jeff and Kathryn had filmed this EF-5 within blocks of from 20th. Iowa Ave. was devastated with many fatalities and some survivors. Jeff and Kathryn immediately went into help mode and did what they could to help, comfort and console. God Bless Joplin.

The tornado tore through the center of Blagoveshchensk, tearing roof-tops and balconies from over a hundred buildings, overturning trucks, uprooting trees and ripping out power lines. It raged only for several minutes but eyewitness reported that it caused incredible damage. Most roads have now been cleared, but hundreds of homes are still without electricity.

May 24th 2011, after coming really close to a giant wedge tornado in Lookeba Oklahoma, Holy Tornado then raced south to Chickasha were we once again got our visual of the mesocyclone just off to our southwest. Before this thing had condensed all the way to the ground, you could see the concentrated area where the funnel was about to emerge from the meso. It seemed like there was just a cloud of debris on the ground underneath this meso forever until it had finally fully condensed. Thereafter as the twister gets closer, it intensifies dramatically right outside Jeremy's window. Shortly after this, you see it hit several homes in a small community and also hits a trailor house and lofts it out the back of the twister. We immediately start searching through rubble and debris. Sadly, one person perishes from this destructive twister and there were numerous injuries. May god be with the families that were effected by this and may the recovery process get underway fast and be quickly completed.

One person has been killed and twenty eight others injured as a powerful tornado hit the Russian far-eastern city of Blagoveshchensk on Sunday.
