JAPAN ACTUAL UNDERWATER EARTHQUAKE SOUND 3/11/2011..real time..listentothedeep.net ..Science Underwater Mics Capture Earth's Terrifying Rumble in Japan Quake You've seen the shocking video of Japan's 9.0 magnitude earthquake and its devastating aftermath, but a newly released audio recording offers yet another glimpse of mother nature's awesome power. A network of underwater observatories belonging to the Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC) surrounding the epicenter of the massive earthquake captured rare and haunting audio of the earth's violent rumbling. "Equipped with hydrophones for monitoring underwater sounds in real-time over the Internet, the LIDO [Listening to the Deep Ocean Environment] system has been continuously recording the sound of the earthquake and its aftershocks," Science Daily reports.
Cold Seeps and Methane Hydrates

Under certain pressure and temperature conditions gas molecules such as methane can crystallize with water molecules to an ice-like structure, so-called methane hydrates. At the MARUM institute in Bremen, scientists are working toward a better understanding of the role of methane hydrates for the deep-sea ecosystems, the global carbon cycle, and the stability of continental slopes. Methane hydrates have received special attention because the energy stored in them may be used by people in the future. The music for this videos was specially composed by Schiller (Christopher von Deylen) within the project "Wissenschaft trifft Kunst" ("Science meets Art"). This video was also produced with Chinese subtitles: www.youtube.com

Lava Bubbles at West Mata underwater volcano

It was during an expedition in 2009 in the Southwest Pacific, funded by the National Science Foundation and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and led by University of Washington oceanographer Joseph Resing, when scientists first witnessed the fiery eruption and molten lava from a deep sea volcano. Here bubbles of magma form and implode from the vent scientists named Hades. Scientists have reported their latest findings from the expedition in Nature Geoscience online, October 2011. Underwater video of fish assemblages using baited cameras in the Perth Canyon, Western Australia

Recorded as part of a scientific research project conducted by the Department of Fisheries in collaboration with the University of Western Australia and CSIRO, this project aimed to describe and compare fish assemblages of the upper slope (100-600 m) along the west and north coasts of Western Australia. The footage was collected from two research surveys in March and November 2010, onboard the Research Vessel Naturaliste. A total 150 stereo-Baited Remote Underwater Videos were deployed, recording a total of 1358 fish from 78 different species. The number of species and total numbers of individual fish decreased with depth. Fish assemblages at 200 m were very different from fish assemblages at 400 and 500 m which were more alike. As depth increased the fish assemblage was made up of a variety of different sharks and rays.

Hagfish predatory behaviour and slime defence mechanism

Hagfishes (Myxinidae) are a family of jawless marine pre-vertebrates. Those video images taken in New Zealand revealed that hagfishes are able to choke their would-be predators with gill-clogging slime. It also shows that hagfishes are actively preying on other fish in New Zealand waters. The video is part of a scientific paper describing this newly discovered behaviour which can be downloaded online at www.nature.com Zintzen V., Roberts, CD, Anderson MJ, Stewart AL, Struthers CD & Harvey ES (2011) Hagfish predatory behaviour and slime defence mechanism. Sparklers Underwater

Did you know that sparklers can burn under water? This is because they contain an oxidizer (usualy Potassium nitrate or Potassium perchlorate) as a oxygen source instead of getting oxygen from the air. As a result, they are able to burn even when they are placed in an environment where oxygen is absent. This experiment is potentially dangerous and even though we joke in the video I would not recommend any one repeat it at home. Minecraft - Underwater 360 Cannon

I demonstrate a new and unique design for an underwater 360 cannon. This cannon was built with stealth in mind. The cannon can be completely hidden under the ocean floor. This cannon is unique because I believe it is the first true underwater cannon built in minecraft. By "true underwater cannon", I mean the first cannon where both the TNT missile(s) and TNT propellent are actually placed in the ocean. Only the wiring and firing controls are placed inside a casing under the water. The cannon is short to medium range and contains my modified version of EtherImp's variable timer system. If actually used in PVP, it would be considered a defensive cannon designed to destroy players crossing the ocean via boat.

Science in the Koran: correcting the misrepresentations of William Hay

This is a mirror of a video made by youtuber TheRationalizer. It is mirrored at his request, and I mirrored it because I think that it is important that the lies spread by apologists be exposed for what they are. Whether they be christian or islamic. Why do apologists from whatever religion feel the need to lie? I suspect I know the reason. The reason is that they do not have truth on their side. Nor do they have evidence on their side. So, to further their cause, or to further their particular flavour of god, they have to rely on dishonesty. It is not so much that "god works in mysterious ways" - rather that god selects his messengers on their ability to be dishonest.
