Footage shows Boeing 767 emergency landing in Warsaw
A Boeing 767 with 230 people on board has made an emergency landing at Warsaw airport, apparently without its landing gear. It appears the Polish Lot aircraft, en route from New York, circled the city to burn up fuel and allow emergency crews to gather in preparation for the landing. A spokesman for the airline said none of the passengers was injured.

Boeing 767 forced landing Warsaw 1 November 2011
A Boeing 767 from Newark, New Jersey, carrying 230 passengers made an emergency landing in Warsaw after its landing gear failed to open. Leszek Chorzewski, the spokesman for LOT, the Polish airline that operated the flight, said none of the passengers was injured. The plane landed on its belly without its wheels. Passengers could be seen fleeing the plane. The airport has been closed until 8 am on Wednesday.

Polish riot police used batons, teargas and water cannon against thousands of right-wing and left-wing demonstrators after Independence Day observances Friday turned into clashes in which police were attacked by leftist and right-wing marchers. The November 11 celebration marked the day in 1918 when Poland regained its independence after having been carved up for 123 years by Prussia, Austria, and Russia. Poland crash landing: Boeing 767 touches down without wheels in Warsaw
A Boeing 767 from Newark, New Jersey with 230 passengers onboard made an emergency landing in Warsaw after its landing gear failed to open. The plane landed on its belly without its wheels. None of the passengers was injured. The pilots circled above the airport for about an hour before crash landing after they discovered a problem with landing gear. The Warsaw Uprising (Polish: powstanie warszawskie) was a major World War II operation by the Polish resistance Home Army (Polish: Armia Krajowa), to liberate Warsaw from Nazi Germany, ahead of the Red Army's advance. The rebellion coincided with the retreat of German forces and the Red Army's approaching the eastern suburbs of the city. Controversially, the Soviet advance stopped short, while Polish resistance against the German forces continued for 63 days with little outside support.

Poland: Warsaw, Old Town Square (Part 3)
Old Town Market Square ... is by far the most popular place for resting and walking for both Varsovians and tourists. The old and charming architecture, quaint cafes and restaurants, small and enticing shops create a unique atmosphere that is not found in other cities in Europe. When the weather is warm, the square becomes filled with cafe tables and artists performing outside. Until the end of 18th century the Old town market square was the most important place in Warsaw. Regular fairs and festivities were held here. During World War II the market square turned into rubbles - but after many years of reconstruction it was restored to its original beauty. The Old town is the best place for walks. Most of this area is closed to traffic and it a paradise for pedestrians. Most interesting walks are in the vicinity of the market square and Royal Castle square. Here you will find many narrow, cobbled streets with quaint antique shops, cafes, and beautiful old houses. Piwna Street takes you across much of the Old Town and passes through multiple tourist attractions. Almost every building you will see in the Old Town will be old with unique architecture. Old Town is a blend of different styles - from gothic to baroque. Barbakan Warszawski (The Warsaw Barbican) ... a semicircular fortified outpost and one of few remaining relics of the complex network of historic fortifications that once encircled Warsaw. By January 1945 85% of the buildings were destroyed: 25% as a result of the Uprising, 35% as a result of systematic German actions after the uprising, and the rest as a result of the earlier Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, and the September 1939 campaign.[5] Material losses are estimated at 10455 buildings, 923 historical buildings (94%), 25 churches, 14 libraries including the National Library, 81 primary schools, 64 high schools, University of Warsaw and Warsaw University of Technology, and most of the historical monuments.[5] Almost a million inhabitants lost all of their possessions.[5] The exact amount of losses of private and public property as well as pieces of art, monuments of science and culture is unknown but considered enormous. Studies done in the late 1940s estimated total damage at about $30 billion US dollars.[139] In 2004, President of Warsaw Lech Kaczyński, later President of Poland, established a historical commission to estimate material losses that were inflicted upon the city by German authorities. The commission estimated the losses as at least US$31.5 billion at 2004 values.[140] Those estimates were later raised to US$45 billion 2004 US dollars and in 2005, to $54.6 billion
